September 19th, 2011 - AQ New Year
Our new fiscal begins September first. This has always felt like the start of a new cycle for us. We take stock of what's been, what is and what may come our way.
Rebecca just wrapped a production contract on the television series "Blackstone" (in their AD department). AD-ing is not for the feint of heart. It was a great for Becca to meet and work with Edmonton film-folk. Thanks to Jessie Szymanski, Ron E. Scott and Damon Vignale for the opportunity to contribute.
Jen is finishing her first black and white commissioned painting. I'm sure her creepy, tree-goddess will delight & freak simultaneously. Highlights from both summer projects coming soon!
Bec and Jen are also promoting "The Oonahnahmae Universe". We are amazed by the universal appeal of this "children's" book. It seems that regardless of background or demographic, illustrated books reach people. There is a great deal to be grateful for as Thanksgiving approaches!

June 25th, 2011 - Happy Solstice and the Bailey...
Belated happy summer wishes to all! As this summer heats up, we are focused on selling bright blooms. We are pleased to announce our participation in a fund-raising Art Show for The Bailey Theatre, a local relic, now revitalized. Proceeds of the sale are divided half and half between the artists and theatre. My love of film and story originated in this antique picture house.
The paintings currently included in this sale are: "Sunflower" (26 by 26 oil on canvas), "Pansies" (8 by 10 oil on canvas) and "Lotus" (11 by 14 oil on canvas). You can view them and current pricing at www.jennifer-christenson.artistwebsites.com.
If one is a favorite and you were undecided about purchasing, please contact Jen or me ASAP. We can contribute other pieces to the show. The Bailey Theatre Art Show and Sale is July 14th, 2011, for any local people wanting to attend.
May 29th, 2011 - Exploring other publishing options...
We are currently seeking a professional publishing partner to work with us on "The Oonahnahmae Universe". The service with the current self-publishing company is not meeting our needs, so there are some delays in production. Everything happens for a reason and we thank all supporters. The book is ready to go, but it is important to have the right team in place:)! We want to work with like minds, a quality worth waiting for...
You can check out all the panels at: www.jennifer-christenson.artistwebsites.com in the Oonahnahmae Album. Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
May15th, 2011 - Book illustrations uploaded to Fine Art America
While we await the final revisions for "The Oonahnahmae Universe", Jen and Rebecca have uploaded the complete panels used in the book, to their Fine Art America site. This allows for viewing in the original format, with the bonus of being available for purchase. These bright, magical dreamscapes would be an amazing theme for a child's bedroom. Enjoy!

Well, the wild card is in play. I sent all the materials for the new book to the self-publisher, Trafford.

Feb 17th, 2011 -- Works of Heart!
Keep on keepin' on...Here at AQ we are happy to announce the completion of the book panels. Woohoo Jen! As she wraps up her end of the project, mine is only beginning. Focus will now be on photography and layout, promotion and sharing.
I'd better get on it, as Jen's already sketched thumbnails for book two! An illustrated version of "The Aquarian Philosophy".
We're also coordinating ideas for the screenplay, getting excited about location design and look forward to co-creating a storyboard. Script writing is strange-ish, because it's not the actual art form -- or intended end-use. That said, screenwriting is an art. The art of abstract conveyance of an emotional journey. Magic!
Planning is also key to a positive experience, especially ones requiring many creative collaborators. Inspired by the Great PJ, (Peter Jackson), I've revisted the B.T.S. (behind the scenes) for L.O.T.R. (Lord of the Rings)...to inspire our our pre-prod bibles and foresee challenges. L.O.T.R. is a good example of many things. Too bad drama bled off screen...art imitates life...
Beware any rings...with inevitable strings!
Love and light to "The Hobbit" set and Peter's recovery. All the best to team Weta and ongoing creation from a heart space.
January 13, 2011 -- Happy New Year!! --- Book Project Update
Jennifer is illustrating front and back covers (all interior pages are complete). While...Rebecca works on digital file submissions and reformatting images (to meet publishing parameters).
There were a few glitches, as our original vision was to print landscape. Going with indie book publishing (for the time being), required that we change to suit (for now)...
We will sell the book through our website, as well as the publisher's. Thanks to everyone cheering us on! We love that you all want to buy the first copy, guess we'll see who gets that distinction...first come, first served.
Here's to 2011 - The Year of the Dreamer!!!

A BIG THANK-YOU goes out to our anonymous donor! We received enough to complete the self-publishing process and will be doing a mock up for our publishers by the end of November.
Fall 2010 - The Oonahnahmae Universe - Illustrated Book
As September rolls around, we feel it is a new year. It could be the conditioning of years in school, where the new school year brings a heightened expectation. It could be the frosty nip, which enhances the tangibility of air and common "scents". It could be the natural cycle of outward growth coming to an end...and the inner reflection about to begin (in Canada's long dark).
New year's is a great chance to change. Flesh out the good, bad and beautiful! What must go? What warms the heart and mind?
To us, the Aquarian characters exist in their purest form as The Oo*nah*nah*mae or wee folk. It is the divinity within, the light body and the meek part of each of us. This is the part that is inheriting the earth, as the stewards of the best of life. The wee folk are gathering near, feeding the stars and we can join them as soon as we're able.
Jen's working on paintings to bring the Oo*nah*nah*mae poem to life...and in essence, our work reaches the next level. Our ideas bounce off of each other, pushing the project and the vision forward. As she paints, I see the film, start to hear the actors and lay the ground work for bringing this to a bigger screen and audience.
"Dragonfly Surrenders" - YouTube Montage - Summer 2010
Featuring MIKA and Corey Makaloski - This photo shoot was inspired by Corey (being a lovely person and performer), MIKA (who brings joie de vivre to the stage) and the AQ character Leyfe. This was the first shoot that Jen began using a person as a canvas.
NOTE: The music is not ours, we do not make music and claim no rights.
We did however, want to display photos from the shoot with the music Corey used -- to choreograph his dance -- and the visual interpretation of Leyfe dancing his way into his light body. Paintings were done by Jennifer Christenson, both on Corey and on the canvas. The Aurora in one of the final shots was taken from the 4' by 7' painting "Give to the Light".
I am attempting to weave my vision with effects technology, but am not an editor by training. Jen and I are excited by learning and working with digital and special effects teams as we progress! Doing it ourselves right now certainly increases our appreciation for all aspects of movie magic...
Enjoy!

Project Development - Spring 2010
Life is what it is, sometimes we share on the outside and other times we go within...
Jen and Rebecca have been shifting and working through the next step for the company (if we want to keep going) and where our lives feel drawn. What is the best way to give back? It's been a bit of a rebuild -- and literal closet cleaning of gallery supplies.
Change for Children Donation (February 28/2010)
Jen had the recent opportunity to make a donation of time and skill to a "Change for Children" School Building Fundraiser. Change for Children has various global projects which contribute to the betterment of humanity.
Thank you to the Lyon family in Lethbridge, for the inspired Birthday celebration! Photos of the commission will be featured shortly.

The Aquarian - Baiados (Nov 11/2009)
Introduction of Baiados www.theaquarians.blogspot.com
Features:
"Unity: A Waking Dream" (Oil on canvas - 2' by 6' - 2009 - by Jennifer Christenson)
"The Storm Eater" (Oil on Canvas 48' by 48" - 2007 - by Jennifer Christenson)
The Oonahnahmae Uni-verse - Illustrated book (Oct 25/2009):
Jen's first illustrated "tail" will be released in the spring of 2010!
The Films (Oct 6/2009):
Rebecca's first script will be ready to shop-around / flesh-out (again) by April 2010.
The Aquarian films will be anchored with solid storytelling, first and foremost. No effects for the sake of it, or cash for crash bores. Rebecca loves seeing actors do their job, so that is the intent -- with a bit of pixie dust and the unexplained thrown in here and there!
This is not dark material, so we're looking for co-creators who will bring their light to the projects. "The dark force" is within each of us -- to be enlightened, unchosen, forgiven and released...DNA surge, here we come!
When pre-production begins, Rebecca is keen on providing mentorship opportunities to film students and emerging professionals...More on that with the green light!
The Art Gallery & Exhibitions (Oct 6/2009):
We are looking for exhibition space in alignment with the paintings. Our previous location, in Camrose, Alberta, was a good start. We were able to share with the community of our youth, got our "fins" wet and garnered feedback.
Sirens & Swords Gallery hosted two gala events during six months of operation (Dec 2007 - May 2008); "The Tide is Turning" and "A Freedom Festival". Each exhibit was a showcase of the season and introduction to key characters.
After closing the gallery, we travelled to the World Fantasy Convention to exhibit key pieces in October of 2008. Continued creation motivates studio acquisition, but we are content to wait for a great alignment between energy and location.
An Aquarian Introduction (Oct 5/2009):
Beginning in November, we will introduce one character at a time, each month. As the Aquarian Creation process began 13 years ago, characters were zodiacal inspirations. As time went on, they took on lives of their own.
Every creator knows that you can guide a lifeforce so much, then must let go as destiny is revealed. There are approximately 30 characters in our story...and have become their own world, beautiful and seeking self-realization.
This November, the featured Aquarian will be Baiados...come back for a peak at his Stats and Stature!
"Sacred Sights" (Oct 1/2009):
AQ is in the process of setting up a FREE (for personal use) stock image library for those seeking world travel, inspiration and imagery. The intent is to share what we have collected thus far. Sacred Sights poses the question..."HOW" do you choose to see?
As you awaken, kindly pay it forward...
"The Oonahnamae Pro-ject" (May 2009):
Dedicated to the Art of Dreaming to Awaken
New Entry ... "It is Pictured" (Writing on Stone UNESCO Sacred Site)
Also Includes:
B.T.S. (Behind the Scenes)...Photo shoot fun!
